[That horrible pang of dread sends his entire heart sinking, and sure enough--
--It's everyone gathering that tell him. It's the looks on their faces. It's...
Tsukasa can't stand it.
He steps away, and finds himself wandering. It's much later that his feet take him to the chapel. He hasn't been back here since Lavi's death--he almost turns right back around to go elsewhere, but.
Instead, almost like he can't help himself, he goes in. And. Makes a startled noise despite himself, somethings like a "bwuh?!" at seeing it practically turned into a science lab.]
Not that anything about it is pleasant to begin with, really. Yugamu investigates, he sticks around, he pays his respects—
And what else can he do, but distract himself?
The new laboratory brings a shiver of anticipation...even if the circumstances certainly aren't the best. After the obvious problem with it and a scene change, he's thrown himself into tubes and beakers and brightly colored chemicals. Luckily, not too deeply that Tsukasa's squawking does anything but make him turn his head. ]
Hey there, Tsukasa-kun. You look like you've seen a ghost!
[ He really is so skittish and jumpy...does he know how cute he is?
...Well, not that Yugamu can blame him for being jumpy. ]
When I heard there was a lab opening up, how could I be anywhere else? It can't compare to the one back at the academy, but just the sight of a few scalpels and chemicals makes my fingers itch like crazy...it's what I've been missing!
[ Don't think about it too much, Tsukasa. ]
It must have been after the last trial. There's no point in trying to hide how dastardly and fiendish things are getting around here anymore, after all.
[ Aw. He was expecting a better reaction, but that's fine. After all, he can probably imagine what's going on in that brain right now.
Yugamu will not mind when Tsukasa walks up to peer at his little project, a few powders and some labelled beakers, combined with a wide-tipped syringe. What is bro doing... ]
Who's to say? I can't claim to know what's going on inside our host's head. [ Not that he particularly wants to, unless he's cracking it open. ] But with all these chemicals, you could get up to something really nasty if you wanted to. Ah, the wonders of the human body...
Did I scare you? Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. You make it so easy....
[ He has to get his kicks somewhere, and it's not his fault if Tsukasa offers them up on a silver platter. ]
You don't have to worry. A good murder needs build-up, a long-standing relationship....and no coercion from cheap games. I like to consider myself a guy with standards.
[He knows he makes it easy... Tsukasa can't even argue that. But he still just makes a face in response, slowly dragging a deep breath in to try to slow down his poor heart rate.]
R... right...
[.....?]
I don't really understand, but... all that matters is that you're not that kind of guy... so... there's nothing to worry about. I see...
I see! Then there's nothing to worry about at all!
[ Pfft— He really does fit right in amongst all the props and manuscripts. He had known it before, but Tsukasa really was someone built with a stage presence.]
Well, if you aren't complaining...Just don't blame me for what happens if you decide to indulge me too much.
[ Don't worry about it.
Well, the enthusiasm is charming. Yugamu's grin doesn't waver, even if he looks back to his experiment. ]
I like the obedience. On a side note, have you ever considered a collar? [ haha what ] But this shouldn't be too volatile, so feel free to watch closely if you want.
[ Teehee. He'll let him stew in that and just move on, after taking a nice good look at that face. ]
I'm making a hemostatic agent. [ A sharp finger taps the stopper of the wide-tipped syringe ] Who's to say what'll happen at the next trial, if we have one? Not to mention, there's not a single painkiller or sedative in this school...it's almost painful to see. The Bio Lab really spoiled me rotten...
Oh, not a science person, Tsukasa-kun? [ He did kind of figure, really. ] It's just a little something to help slow the bleeding if things get a little too hot and heavy. Bleeding out is a fun way to go, but I don't think everyone else would think so.
[ Aka, Nobody else would think so.
A shake of the head, to that question. ]
You act like we're in a standard school to begin with. You can't really call this shifting labyrinth a classic coming of age experience, can you? [ Plus, you know. God. And the horrors. ] I'd wager it's something about making us deal with the pain we cause ourselves. If we're getting incentivized to start killing each other, what's the point in making it hurt less?
Science is... [... yeah.] ... my weakest subject...
[And he almost didn't pass physics so he doesn't want to think about it.
Ahem!]
I was afraid you would say that, though. It... makes an unfortunate amount of sense, but! Why even pretend we're in a school in the first place. The setting of this place makes less and less sense to me by the day.
w2, tuesday

Okay, well. Maybe he's an assassin, but, still. A familiar face.]
Oh! Yugamu, so you were in here!
[Deep breath in. Try to settle himself, after Everything.]
It, er... didn't look like this before in here, though.

And Tsukasa pauses, considering that very carefully.
It's... what he's been missing.............
... You know what! He's going to just pretend he didn't hear that! So he'll just start walking again, until he can peer at what Yugamu is working on.]
"Dastardly and fiendish"... you mean you think all of this was put here to help people do--something terrible again?

[Hhh...
Why is Yugamu so good at sounding ominous in every single thing he does or says???]
W-well, then! We're lucky to have you here with us, as someone who understands all of this!
[Just... in case.]
no subject
[ He probably shouldn't be smiling during this, but what can he say? A man has his passions.
Still, the compliment makes it a teeny bit less sinister(?). ]
Heehee. Your faith in me is...cute, Tsukasa-kun. You could really make a guy want to kill you with that earnest personality of yours.
[ ... ]
Not that I would. I wouldn't want to give that Father up there any fuel for their little games.
1/2
[It's an immediate, panicked response--]
2/2
Aaaaah...]
Y-you should lead with that next time, Yugamu! That came across as very ominous!

Tsukasa sitting there chanting to himself that Yugamu is someone to be believed in? That's new. The look on his face softens just a little more. ]
You're going to make a guy fall for you doing that, you know.
[ /srs or j/....who knows. ]
Planning on sticking around? I don't mind someone watching while I work, as long as you don't interrupt too much.
no subject
Ah, and if that happens, it is only natural! There is nothing to be ashamed of in falling for my star-like aura, after all.
[... sure, tsukasa.
Anyway!
He perks up a moment later, back to a less obnoxious tone.]
I would like to stay though, since you don't mind! I assure you I'll stay out of your way!

That's--uh. What?
[He's thrown by both of those comments, blinking owlishly as they sink in.
...
...]
Um, no, I-- I mean--
[............ ANYWAY.]
... What are you trying to do?

...
No, he still can't figure it out from context clues. This is like talking to Rui but even more disconcerting.]
There aren't any painkillers? I hadn't realized--
[Well, of course not. He hasn't needed them and he hasn't exactly been around that many of the injured parties as it happened.]
--but surely any standard school would have some in the infirmary or nurse's office. Why wouldn't this one?
